This poster and invite advertise an upcomming exhibition called Peeking Under the Capricorn. This exhibit sets out to explore the undertones or Australian Culture. I decided to look at the underground gang culture Australia once had through 1960’s - 1980’s. The notion of ‘family’ comes from the idea that everyone wants to belong to some form of group, and this is exactly what gangs did for these kids. Much like today, Australians were heavily influenced by America and Britain, but it was also the beginning of a new identity they were creating for themselves.
